Painting is a blind man's profession. He paints not what he sees,
but what he feels, what he tells himself about what he has seen.
- Pablo Picasso
India is a land of festivals, and these festivals represent true integration of its rich culture and traditions. The visually impaired people may not be able to see the material world, but they can well appreciate the values attached to the festivals. Festivals fill their lives with colors and enthusiasm.
At The NAB Workshop for the Blind, the focus is on overall development of sight impaired students. Through various cultural and festival functions, the emphasis is laid on inculcating the value of diversity and unique experiences and make everyone feel inclusive and valuable.
Every year, on the 25th of January, the foundation day is observed to commemorate the milestones and achievements of the workshop. It is a special day when the achievements of students and staff members are recognized. Certificates and Cash Prizes are awarded to winners of competitions held on Sports Day and other various competitions held in Dance, Singing, Essay Writing, Elocution, and Quiz. Braille Shorthand machines are awarded to students who have successfully completed the Braille Shorthand Course, to help maintain their speed efficiency. Acupressure and Massage kits are awarded to students who have successfully completed the Acupressure and Massage Therapy course to encourage self-employment.
